Celebrate Chinese New Years with colorful kid's activities, such as this colorful festival lantern. Make your home bright and cheerful by making and stringing the paper lanterns up and around your home!
Fun Fact: The Chinese believe that the lanterns usher in life, prosperity and new beginnings. Plus, These lanterns can be made from just about any kind of paper you have around the house, but we love thick construction paper and leftover Christmas wrap the best.
What You’ll need:
Fold a rectangular piece of construction paper in half longways to create a smaller, two-layered rectangle.
Unfold the rectangle, then pull the short edges together and glue or tape them shut.

Fold a rectangular piece of construction paper in half longways to create a smaller, two-layered rectangle.
Using scissors, make fringe cuts along the two-layered rectangle, leaving a little space near the fold line.
Unfold the rectangle, then pull the short edges together and glue or tape them shut.
Push down on either end of the lantern and the fringes will “accordion” out.
