These fluffy critters are an easy art project to create. Nesting animals, like rabbits and chicks, are as sweet as can be and can be put together with your preschooler or kindergartener. All you’ll need is an old egg carton, a few simple craft supplies, and about 20 minutes.

You’ll Need:
- An empty egg carton
- Cotton balls
- Craft glue
- Paint
- Construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
Step 1: Cut out individual “nests” from the egg carton sections, smoothing out the edges with scissors.

Step 2: To add a bit of color to the bodies, roll the cotton balls in paint and let dry beforehand. For the chick, we painted the cotton balls yellow, for a monkey, use brown, an elephant, use grey and so on and so on!
Step 3: Put your animal in its nest! Place a cotton ball into the egg carton, then glue a second ball on top of it to create a head. Let dry.
Step 4: Add the eyes, ears, noses, and mouths. Glue googly eyes onto the cotton ball heads.
For these cuties, we cut out bunny ears and chick beaks from pink and yellow construction paper and glued these on to the heads to complete the critter faces.

Get creative and allow the kids to pick out some other favorite animals to make. For a super cute grizzly bear, use brown paper for the ears and just cut out a nose from black construction paper. For a pig, make ears and a snout from pink construction paper, and so on and so on!
With one egg carton you can create 12 animal "nests", but why stop there? Once you have created the whole farm, move on to the ocean or the animals you see at the zoo! Your adorable critters are ready to go!
