The Little Mermaid is one of those classics every girl born after 1990 has seen at least a million times. What’s not to love. The free-spirited daughter of a strict, albeit well-meaning king, falls in love with the outside world (along with a hunky prince charming). She makes a bad decision for the sake of a boy and learns an important about being herself and appreciating where she comes from. And the music is catchy and charming, to boot!
When this brave five-year-old girl got on stage for her first ever performance, she chose to sing “Part of Your World,” from the Little Mermaid soundtrack. Unfortunately, there was a problem. She was caught by surprise when her background music didn’t start. But unlike Ariel who loses her voice, she just starts singing anyway.
I think we can all learn a lesson from this little girl’s brave performance. When life throws you technical difficulties, just start singing your song, anyway. I’m know I’m already all grown up, but I want to be like this little girl when I grow up!
