Summertime! Sweet summertime! June is here, school is out, and it’s time for a month of reconnection and relaxation. Play is a wonderful way to connect with our kids and join them in their world. 

Here are 30 new play ideas and summer activities for kids for June.

Outdoor Fun:

1. Fill a kiddie pool with bubble bath and bath toys! Get in with them!

2. Take poster board and paint to the sidewalk and create art with your hands and feet!

3. Make a Rainbow Bubble Snake!

You Will Need: 

  • empty water bottle
  • dish soap
  • food coloring
  • a sock

4. Play flashlight tag in the dark tonight!

5. One of kid's favorite summer activities is a water balloon fight!

6. Hide small toys in the sand box and use shovels and brushes to go on an excavation!

7. Make sidewalk chalk paint.

8. Play on a Slip N Slide.

Don’t have one? Try this DIY slide from Inner Child Fun.

9. Hang an old sheet on a fence or clothesline and spray paint with bottles of ½ water and ½ tempera paint.

10. Gather stones and create a labyrinth or a magical fairy garden!

11. Go on a nature walk and collect items of interest.

12. Today, try playing horseshoes or have the kids choose multiple summer activities!

13. Have a three-legged race in the yard.

14. Create an outdoor music station!

Collect hanging pots, pans, jugs, lids, or anything you can find. Grab different items to play music with, like wooden sticks or metal spoons. The neighbors will love it.
