Get psychedelic with a crafting classic - tie dye! The colorful 'sunburst' patterns never go out of style. This simplified version doesn't even require a washing machine!
What you'll need:
- Tie dye (Hot water dye is the best because it won't run out. It can be purchased from specialty stores from $3.00 to $5.00).
- T-shirt, handkerchief, shorts, almost anything that might be of interest in dying!
- Large metal pot )take care as the dye can stain wood, plastic and counter tops)
- Metal or Black Plastic Spoon to stir with
- Tongs
- Rubber bands

How to make it:
- Take your piece of clothing, gather up a bundle and wrap the rubber band tightly around the bundle.
- Repeat step 1 in spots all over the clothing so that circles will turn up everywhere you want.
- Boil water in the large pot.
- Once boiling, put dye in (sometimes you don't even need to use the whole package of dye).
- Add clothing and stir.
- Boil clothing, taking care to stir for 30 minutes on high.
- When finished, remove the clothing with tongs.
- Run clothing under cold water to make sure all extra dye runs out.
- Allow to dry for 30 minutes to 60 minutes.
- Take off rubber bands.
- Iron out wrinkles on a low setting.
- Launder (if preferred) before wearing.
