Drop the mask of perfection and breathe.
The world doesn’t need perfect mothers. The world needs gentle mothers, honest mothers, and kind mothers. Real mothers. Fierce mothers. Protective mothers. We need mothers who are strong and who know it’s alright when they’re not strong. We need unashamedly flawed mothers.
The world needs mothers who know their value doesn’t hang on a goal and isn’t measured by a stick.
Why? Because we are raising children who cannot be perfect, but who can be gentle, honest, kind, real, fierce, protective, strong, and flawed. If they see us striving for perfection, what will they do with their own imperfections? How will they feel about their own flaws?
We have to show them what it looks like to fall down and stand back up. To struggle and fail. To struggle and succeed. To lean on others. And let us please show them how to accept love just as we are and to stand strong in our worthiness so that the next generation doesn’t waste time hustling for worth. We have too much important work to do to be wasting time trying to achieve something we were already born with.
