15 Ways to Give Joy on Your Child's Birthday

by Rebecca Eanes

Continued...

9. Invite Party Guests to Send a Special Message! Have everyone who comes over for a party write something to the birthday child on a white board or in the journal.

10. Line the walkway leading up to your door with balloons for a grand entrance!

11. Decorate your vehicle! Put balloons in the floor board, streamers hanging from the back of the front seats, and write on your windows.

12. Play “you're awesome because” before eating the cake. Go around the table and have everyone tell the birthday child why they think she is awesome.

13. Put surprises inside the balloons, such as candy, coins, and notes. Just when they think the party is over and it's time to pop the balloons to clean up, BAM! More surprises!

14. Have birthday night family games! Think "Minute to Win It" style. Perhaps an annual chess tournament or an obstacle course?

15. Hide a final gift under his pillow – a new book for story time. Cuddle up and read it together.
